The AMBROSIA project was proudly represented at the 2025 IAFP European Symposium on Food Safety, held from 6 to 8 May in Madrid, Spain. Veeva Systems, ELGO DIMITRA and Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) were there to present AMBROSIA's vision and their work so far. Organized by the International Association for Food Protection (IAFP), the event brought together leading food safety scientists, regulators, and industry experts to exchange knowledge and explore emerging issues impacting food safety across Europe.

AMBROSIA partners actively participated in this high-level scientific symposium, presenting our research and engaging with the international food safety community. As a Horizon Europe project dedicated to exploring the impact of climate change on food safety — with a focus on mycotoxins and foodborne pathogens — our contributions added valuable insights into climate-related risks and preventive strategies.

Presence at the IAFP Marketplace

AMBROSIA also took part in the IAFP Symposium Marketplace, where project representatives engaged directly with symposium participants, stakeholders, and members of the public. This informal and interactive setting provided a valuable opportunity to discuss the project’s objectives, methods, and expected impact. Attendees expressed strong interest in AMBROSIA’s mission to safeguard food systems in the face of climate change, and meaningful dialogues were sparked on the importance of cross-disciplinary collaboration.

Student Recognition for Leonardos Stathas

We are especially proud to share that Leonardos Stathas, PhD candidate at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) and a key contributor to AMBROSIA’s research activities, received a Student Scholarship Award from IAFP.

This prestigious recognition highlights Leonardos’ dedication to food safety science and underscores the high quality of research being conducted within the AMBROSIA project. We warmly congratulate him on this achievement!

The IAFP European Symposium offered an important opportunity to connect AMBROSIA’s science with practical concerns facing Europe’s food systems. We thank the organizers for hosting such a dynamic and impactful event and look forward to returning in the future as our research progresses.

Stay tuned for more updates from AMBROSIA as we continue to explore and communicate the links between climate change and food safety.
